Bush hideout

On the road to Glenn Innes, I'm finally getting that outback feeling. Then the threatening storm clouds finally open up for an almighty downpour and I stop in Tenterfield, no longer able to see the road. Time to go off the grid. Freshly provisioned I head to Boonoo Boonoo National Park Cypress Pine camp site, but the continual drizzle puts a stop to camp fires and bush walks. In the morning I get a chance to walk to the nearby Platypus Hole (and pick up the rubbish left by day visitors). Delicate lavender coloured rock lilies line the path and spider webs are bejewelled in the moist morning. Waves of mist drift across the still water.

The Boonoo Boonoo Falls were a little underwhelming.

On the way back to the main road, I detour to Thunderbolt's hideout.
